Release 5.5.3

  • Core Infrastructure

  • Support 7.2.0+ kernel for latest drivers, including Intel be200 version 107 firmware that improves stability and eMLSR support.
  • Add management path message compression between LANforge Manager and LANforge Resource processes (for many resource OSs, but not all at this time).
  • Add Venue testing logic to make it easier to quickly discover and use many APs all using the same SSID and authentication.
  • Add initial support for HaLow (only in 6.18.44+ kernel, not in 7.2.0+ kernel)
  • Improve MCU message flood with mtk7996 station bringup to allow 108 stations per radio to associate fast and clean. 6.18.44 and higher kernels.
  • Generic enpdoint now supports iperf2 (as well as iperf3).
  • General improvements to AP-Auto, Dataplane/RvR, WiFi Mobility, and other GUI tests.
  • Added IPv6 support for Mac-OS.
  • TR-398/TR-527

  • Add TR-527 Mesh Test suite basic support. Requires software license to enable. Rate-vs-Range, Roaming, Latency, Stability, Multicast, QoS, Multiple-Station-Performance, Maximum-TCP-Throughput, Orbit, 32-Station-Performance, MLO-eMLSR, MLO-STR (This test plan is still under construction at time of release.)
  • TR-398: Support using third-party device (Android phone tested so far) in these tests: Rate-vs-Range, Bandsteering, Bi-Directional UDP, Max-Throughput
  • TR-398: Sync pass/fail and test execution with the final draft of TR398 issue-4 test specification.
  • Interop

  • Added Web UI for configuring and executing Interop tests: Throughput, Interoperability, FTP, HTTP, QoS, Multicast, Mixed Traffic, Real Browser, Video Streaming, Ping, and RvR. Requires software license.
  • Added Real Application Test support for Zoom and Teams conference calls and YouTube streaming across supported OS.
  • Better iOS app support: Layer-4 (http, https and related protocol support), improved stability. Use usb connectivity instead of bluetooth keyboard emulation for at least most of the phone interaction.

  • Android supports enhanced EAP (Enterprise) wifi connectivity.
  • Better Windows application support: Improved install times and stability fixes.
  • Add IPv6 support for MAC-OS (TCP, UDP, Multicast)
  • Add new LANforgeManager web-GUI. Requires software license to enable.
  • LANforge Manager WebGUI

  • Introduced a new LANforge Web UI for simplified configuration, test execution, visualization, and simplified test reports for virtual clients. Requires software license.
  • Added support for Station and VAP creation, and test cases like Wifi-Capacity, Port Reset, Client Visualization.
  • Added packet sniffing and analysis capabilities through the Web UI.
  • Significant Bug Fixes

  • Fix mis-counting of 'tx failed' packets in mtk7996 driver: It was counting retried packets as failures, when instead it should just leave the retry counts in its own counter for higher level reporting to deal with.
  • Fix related tx failed percentage calculating in GUI.
  • Fix (hopefully!) mtk7996 and mtk7915 radio tx hang.
  • Fix a slow memory leak in layer-3 endpoints, introduced by accident around 2023.
  • Fix problem on some Windows where multiple non-existent wlan ports would be reported.
  • Known Limitations

  • Virtual stations (more than one station per radio) have problems when connecting to AP that does OFDMA. Work-arounds include disabling OFDMA on the AP or forcing the virtual stations to support only VHT instead of AX. This is probably a hardware limitation and is unlikely to be fixed with currently available radios.
  • Real Application Tests may be impacted by third-party application UI changes or device-vendor variations.
  • Web UI does not currently support iOS controls.
